Happy Easter!

We celebrated our first Easter with Charlie, down in Massachusetts with the Franz family.

Grandparents Franz certainly loved having Charlie around for the weekend...and Charlie LOVED the extra love and attention he received from them.

We must admit he looked rather dapper in his Easter outfit and hat.

At the dinner table he had everyone in stitches by vocalizing his new and loud voice.  He also had a very nice conversation with his Great Grandmother Nan.
She even taught him the tricky skill of shaking hands.
He was a quick study.  I was most impressed with his eye contact.
Overall, we had a fun Easter with our little guy.

The Doctor is in.....Dr. Acula that is!

As Charlie's teeth are growing in, they are forming a rather funny and freaky formation.  We've been trying for some time now to capture these teeth in a picture.  But as we are finding out, taking a picture inside a baby's mouth is pretty tricky.
I tried to pull his lip open, but it didn't work.
A different day, Daddy tried to open both lips, but the flash ruined the opportunity.
So, I put Charlie on my lap and tried to make him laugh.  Nope.
Then today, I grabbed my camera for one last attempt...and he smiled!  He smiled big, all by himself!
I should know that it's always on Charlie's time, not mine.
And now you see why we call him Dr. Acula!

Nonna and Papa come for another visit

Grandparents Grunze came to Maine for a visit in March.  They hadn't seen Charlie since Christmas, so they greeted a very different (read: big) baby.

The weather was cooperative most days, but the true fun was had in the house.  Like riding Papa's shoulders.

Or playing with Nonna.

Charlie even has the pleasure of getting doted upon by all four of his grandparents.

Most mornings Charlie spent snuggling or reading with Nonna.

We had a great visit.  One day was even warm enough to head out and soak up some sun (fully covered, of course).
